Mercury’s New Years’ motion & influence
Mercury’s movements over the early degrees of Capricorn carry us through the end of the year and into 2024 with a discerning intellectual eye and a series of Earthy relationships with Jupiter in Taurus…
01 December 2023 | Mercury → Capricorn
Mercury rules our minds, our thought processes, our communication, technical infrastructure, etc… Its time each year in Capricorn pushes us into a time of:
thinking rationally and practically
focusing on using discernment
valuing efficiency in our communication and thought processes
thinking about the structure of our processes
and analyzing what doesn’t work for us anymore, what is hindering our efficiency and stability
This is a really great end-of-the-year transit; We’re gearing up to start fresh in the New Year, and before that we’ve gotta do a bit of grounded digging into our mental patterns and the way we think about things. 🧠
07 December 2023 | trine to Jupiter
Not long after it enters this Earth sign, it’s going to be making a relationship that we call a trine to Jupiter in Taurus on December 7th.
Trines occur when we have planets in the same element and indicate that the two are working on the sorta same vibe, having similar motivations and perspectives.
🌱 In this case, Capricorn and Taurus are two of our Earth signs, which are generally motivated by stability, sensuality, long-term comfort, precision, all that jazz…
Jupiter in Taurus: Jupiter spends about 12 months in each sign, so its time in Taurus is giving us a whole year of grounded expansion… Jupiter is a huge visionary, and when it’s in Taurus it’s doing this more practical, structured ways, zooming in on the foundations of our growth.
So when the two come together and work together in this trine on Dec 7th it becomes really fruitful for the long-term projects we’re working on and the slow & steady progress we’re making. We’re being presented with the opportunity to make decisions and progress with a clear-mind and channel the Earthy energy into what we’re doing.
13 December 2023 | Mercury retrograde
Remember that retrogrades deal with the 3 R’s:
redoing
revisiting
reevaluating
When a planet is in retrograde it is literally and physically redoing the same path that it just went over; That’s where we get the other 2 R’s, revisiting and reevaluating, because It implies that there is some sort of unfinished business, some deeper learning, or just some final adjustments to be made that have to do with the lessons or projects or themes we just visited.
18 December 2023 | Mercury rx trine Jupiter
Soooo not too long after Mercury turns around, it’s going to be making the same trine with Jupiter in Taurus. Meaning, with those Earth signs involved, that there is some fine-tuning to do and the work is not quite done... 🔧
We’ve got to go back into the thought processes we were having, the work we were just doing, and make some minor shifts, probably having to do with:
detail-orientedness
long-term stability and fruitfulness
We’ll be doing all that redoing, revisiting, relearning, until the end of the year.
01 January 2024 | Mercury direct
A perfect New Years' Day transit; This is when we are going to shift our intellectual thinking back towards more progress-oriented goals rather than inward structure analysis. And this whole time, Mercury is definitely still feeling the relationship with Jupiter in Taurus…
19 January 2024 | Mercury trine Jupiter
It will be making the final interaction, the separating trine when it is moving forward again on January 19th. With Jupiter running the Mercury show, this journey is related to:
expansion
shifting the ways we’re growing
shifting the ways we’re thinking
stepping into bigger things
and HOW we're able to do so faithfully and optimistically, because we know that we have stable (and efficient) foundations in place for ourselves.
You can expect to feel this energy from the beginning of December until the end of January! Take leaps, seize your opportunities, and don't be afraid to take steps backward when the circumstances arise... These two planets are verryyyy keen on the idea of playing the long game. 🌳
