pillow talk privileges

In the Common Law, “Spousal Privilege’, also known as “Pillow Talk Privilege” describes policies put into place that attempt to ensure the sanctity of marriages by standardizing discernment procedures when deciding to allow or forbade spouses from testifying against one another in the court of law. It is a highly controversial subject, for obivous reasons. The most obvious is that— the spouse knows everything. Everytime. These privileges even have ties back to the notion that a husband and wife were one person, one entity, because of their intense, intimate relationship. But what if it’s only one-sided? What happens then? Let’s say you have a woman, we’ll call her Bonnie. And she has a husband, well, she had a husband. His name was Clyde. They aren’t together anymore, because, simply put, Clyde never gave a F*************

…… Man, life’s crazy, there’s always changing shit.

…………

But human will’s a part of it;

My last man left me ‘cuz I was actin’ funny—

Just ‘cuz I want a fuckin’ umbrella when they sky ain’t sunny.

Yeah, yeah, it’s always bright and clear for optimists…

but it’s the same for fucking narcissists—

They walk around like they’re Kobe, a big baller

when they’re actually an OJ lettin’ their egos holler.

I could feel your thoughts from across the room,

And now that you’re gone, I hear them, too.

THESE ARE THE THINGS,

THE THINGS,

THAT NOBODY SEES.

And nobody knows that I’m the one.

And hiding your shit ain’t no longer fun.

IT’S ALWAYS THE THINGS,

THE THINGS THAT NOBODY SEES,

THAT MAKE YOU BLEED.

I think Frida y Teresa would be really sad—

Our asses staying when we know they’re really bad.

There must be somethin’ in the water, or in what that dick brought her,

Since we keep on bringing Diegos to meet our dads.

But all them ladies didn’t do all that dope shit

So that we could just be copin’!!

— With those who aren’t aware

of what just their words can do;

They sure as hell ain’t poets,

but their eyes show it,

when they say, “I love you”.

But now we ain’t even friends on FACEBOOK?!

…… Why the fuck’d I even look?

I was doin’ so good, thought I was off the hook—

And then that special day came ‘round,

you weren’t in town,

so I let that shit compound;

The things left unsaid

could write a book.

I could feel your thoughts from across the room,

And now that you’re gone, I hear them, too.

THESE ARE THE THINGS,

THE THINGS,

THAT NOBODY SEES.

And nobody knows that I’m the one.

And hiding your shit ain’t no longer fun.

IT’S ALWAYS THE THINGS,

THE THINGS THAT NOBODY SEES,

THAT MAKE YOU BLEED.

You told me: “do what you gotta do”,

but babe, that don’t involve you.

I’D STILL NEVER TELL MY MOTHER THAT SHE WAS RIGHT ABOUT YOU.

She tells me off about that shit you do and do,

wanting to see your ego grow ‘cuz your dick refuses to—

Oh shit … now you know this poem’s about you.

… I pledge alligance to the voices of those who were never heard;

one humanity, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all…
