Willowbrook Vale — E10+ World & Narrative Development
Willowbrook Vale is a narrative/worldbuilding concept developed upon as part of a think-tank and for professional portfolio purposes. Conceived as a cozy-spooky farming and relationship sim, the project explores atmosphere, tone, and NPC design through a writer’s lens—blending small-town charm, seasonal nostalgia, and light supernatural elements inspired by classic autumn adventures.
Developed during the lead-up to spooky season, Willowbrook Vale became a joyful creative detour—an excuse to channel my inner child, lean into the nostalgia of Halloween, and experiment with a brighter palette than my usual mob or occult-themed writing. Balancing whimsy with atmosphere challenged me in the best way; it reminded me that storytelling can be both eerie and comforting, playful yet precise. The process was pure fun and reignited my appreciation for imaginative, heart-led design.
PURPOSE & ROLE:
Building on an existing creative foundation, I expanded the project through narrative flavor exploration and environmental worldbuilding. My work included developing location overviews, refining tone and atmosphere, and drafting light character development materials, quest concepts, and NPC dialogue samples—all designed to evoke a sense of playful mystery and warmth while exploring the many tone-routes that could be taken.
This concept was created to demonstrate narrative adaptability and applied worldbuilding for story-driven, family-friendly games. It highlights my ability to design within lighter rating thresholds while maintaining depth and cohesion across tone and setting.
