A week of subtle sextiles

Sextiles are playful, to put it in a nutshell. They occur between two planets close together in complementary elements. Since they’re in cooperative and harmonious signs, these (usually) short-lived aspects can bring a sense of ease and flow to the areas of life they’re influencing. [note: check which house of your birth chart the transiting planets are in]

First up this week, a watery Sun in Pisces aspects the earthy and grounded but ground-breaking Uranus in Taurus on 06 March 2023. This is conducive for our emotionally-driven headspaces to get an out-of-the-box reminder to stay open in a way that doesn't make us overly vulnerable or susceptible to being totally run by our emotions. As the Sun moves through Pisces, we are feeling this fluidity and open-heartededness. We're probably leaning into our open-mindedness too, and this aspect with Uranus supports our navigating any emotional waters that may be requiring us to learn how to be welcoming and empathetic while staying strong in our own sense of self and well-being.

There’s a lot of Pisces energy in the air, and Saturn will make its long-awaited ingress into this sign on Tuesday, 07 March 2023. So this is definitely a time to do the work and embrace these heightened feelings and open-mindedness, while also learning lessons in staying grounded within your own sense of self (and what your own ‘sense of self’ even is). We may find that we are more open-minded and flexible than usual, which can be a great asset in navigating any challenges that come our way. This aspect encourages us to be both empathetic and strong, and to find a balance between the two as we move through our day.

And supporting these themes is Mercury, the planet influencing our thought processing and speech, passing through the same sextile to Uranus on Friday 10 March 2023 (Mercury’s also in Pisces: read about it here). This open-minded Mercury now passing through the frisky aspect with Uranus presents itself similar to the Sun sextile earlier in the week, where we're shown ways in which we must learn harmony between balancing empathy and evolution. The Mercury sextile in particular is one where our minds are open to seeing where we may need to think differently, and it's an energy that supports letting our creativity and intuition have their moment.

Carrying us through the weekend is that same playful energy between the two player lovers, Venus and Mars. These two make a sextile from Aries and Gemini (respectively), on Saturday 11 March 2023. Venus in Aries is acting much like an empowered business women right now... Aries is ruled by Mars, which means Venus is a bit uncomfortable; This often results in us leaning more heavily into our masculine and assertive sides for a few weeks (And if we don't have the confidence or the energy to fake it, the energy can manifest as frustration stemming from aesthetic discontentment or sensual repression).

So since Mars is the key player here, being the current ruler/host of Venus right now, we need to look at his energy to see more into how this aspect feels overall... Mars is wrapping up its loooong transit through Gemini, where it’s been energizing our creative projects and intellectual interactions since last Autumn. As the planet of action, Mars has been helping us to take the initiative in expressing ourselves and pursuing our passions in innovative and fun ways. With its long journey, we have had plenty of time to explore different ways of being original and connecting with others.

This weekend’s energy is one for us (Venus) to bring aesthetic initiative and planning into our intellectual projects. This can be on a micro scale, like an actual project, or on a more macro lesson-learning journey.

Trust and lean into the harmony and ease that’s showing up, however revolutionary or pioneering it may be. And, welcome any eccentric ideas popping into your mind. Don’t be afraid to speak them (maybe give them like, at least a few seconds of thought first, though).
