Pun-forward website structure and copy for a live music venue, designed to establish a distinct voice while clearly communicating events, offerings, and identity.
This project was for an established live music venue operating as both an event space and a community hub, with a wide range of offerings. The site needed to speak to a broad audience — regulars, first-time visitors, touring musicians, and casual drop-ins — while maintaining a playful, rock-and-roll tone that didn’t obscure essential information.
The challenge was balancing a strong, pun-heavy brand voice with functional clarity. The copy needed to be memorable and fun without becoming confusing, overwhelming, or inaccessible — especially for visitors looking for basic information like events, hours, or logistics.
The old and outdated website structure previously consisted of a landing page with x6 confusing links, to: the music school, the coffee house, the farmers market, the live events page, the ‘host-your-own-event” company, and the production services’ page.
I created a new website structure with this navigation tree:
